WORKSHOPS

  • 2-3pm: Brown Paper Puppets with Yiwen
In this workshop, we will learn about the basics of puppetry through a brown paper puppet exercise. One of the most signature training methods in puppetry, the exercise was designed by The Handspring Puppet Company in South Africa on the basis of traditional Japanese puppetry. We will learn how to craft a simple human-size puppet with brown paper, and how to bring the puppet to life.

2-4pm: Arts and Crafts with Live Arts Studio
Create hands on lively puppet themed arts and crafts with Live Arts Studio.

2-3pm: Singing Songs and Ballads with Nygel D. Robinson
Enjoy the magical world of singing through songs and ballads with singer Nygel D. Robinson.

3-4pm: Puppet Workshop with Samuel J. Lewis
Explore slippery narratives of African American history and the rich history of your family through the art of puppetry with performer Samuel J. Lewis.
